Specialties
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR has been shown as a helpful treatment for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences. A typical EMDR therapy session lasts from 60-90 minutes. EMDR therapy may be used within standard talk therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself. Additional information on EMDR can also be found at the EMDR International Association’s website: https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/
Walk-and-Talk Therapy
For clients who process better while moving, walk-and-talk therapy offers a grounded alternative to the traditional setting. Sessions take place outdoors, within our service area, in a location mutually agreed upon with your therapist ahead of time. Walking side-by-side rather than sitting face-to-face can ease the pressure some people feel in traditional talk therapy, while the rhythm of movement and fresh air often supports clearer thinking and lower anxiety. Walk-and-talk sessions are currently available to clients in Downbeach and surrounding Atlantic County, NJ, and typically run 45-60 minutes.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a skills-based approach that helps clients build tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. Originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder, DBT has since been shown to help with anxiety, depression, self-harm, and difficulty managing intense emotions. Sessions focus on practical, day-to-day skills you can use in real time, rather than solely reflecting on the past. DBT-informed work may be used as the primary approach or woven into standard talk therapy sessions. Additional information on DBT can also be found at Behavioral Tech's website: https://behavioraltech.org/
